An Act authorizing James M.
McGarry
to continue to serve as police chief in the Town of Sheffield.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, James M.
McGarry
, chief of the police department of the town of Sheffield, may continue in such position until June 30, 2015 or until the date of his retirement, whichever occurs first, if he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of such office. The Board of Selectman may, at its own expense, require James M.
McGarry
to be examined by an impartial physician designated by them to determine such capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of James M.
McGarry
under chapter 32 of the General Laws for service subsequent to January 4, 2011, and upon his retirement he shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he would have been entitled had he retired on said date.
SECTION 2.
This act shall take effect upon its passage
