An Act to include fire districts in the
massachusetts
retirement system.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1
.
Section 100G of Chapter 41
of the Genera
l Laws, as appearing in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding in the first sentence after the words “and any town” the words “or fire district”; and further amended by adding in the first sentence after the words “town meeting” the words “or district meeting”; and further amended by adding in the last sentence after each word “city” the words “fire or water district”.

Section 100G ¼ of Chapter 41
of the Genera
l Laws, as appearing in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding in the first sentence after the words “and any town” the words “or fire or water district”; and further amended by adding in the first sentence after the words “town meeting” the words “or district meeting”; and further amended by adding in

after each word “city” the words “fire or water district.”

Section 89 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appea
ring in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the words “of a city or town” and inserting in place thereof the words “of a city, town, fire or water district,” and further amended by striking out the words “call fireman of a city or town” and inserting in place thereof the words “call fireman of a city, town, fire or water district;” and amended by striking out the words “if there is no such board in the case of a town, the selectmen,” and inserting in place thereof the words “if there is no such board in the case of a town or fire or water district, the selectmen or prudential committee.”
SECTION 4.
Section 89B of Chapter 32 of the Genera
l Laws, as appearing in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the words “city or town” wherever they appear and inserting in place thereof the words “city, town, fire district or water district”; and further amended by striking out the words “if there is no such board in the case of a town, the selectmen” and inserting the words “if there is no such board in the case of a town or fire district, the selectmen or prudential committee”; and further amended in the last paragraph by striking out the words “in a town, by a majority vote at the annual town meeting” and inserting in place thereof the words “in a town or district, by a majority vote at the annual town or district meeting.”
SECTION 5.
Section 57B of Chapter 32 of the Genera
l Laws, as appearing in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the words “city or town” and inserting in place thereof the words “city, town, fire district or water district”; and further amended by striking out the words “in a town by majority vote at the annual
town meeting” and inserting in place thereof the words “in a town or district by a majority vote at the annual town or district meeting.”
SECTION 6.
Section 85H of Chapter 32 of the Genera
l Laws, as appearing in the 2004
Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding after the words “the selectmen of every town” the words “and the prudential committee of every fire or water district”; and further amended by adding after the words “fire company in a town” the words “or fire district or water district”; and further amended by adding after the words “favor of such town” the words “or fire district or water district.”
