An Act Authorizing the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to Convey a Certain Parcel of Land in the Town of Dartmouth.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of t
he same, as follows:
SECTION 1.
The division of capital asset management and maintenance, may convey a parcel of land approximately .26 acre located at 262 State Road in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, known formerly as the “Massachusetts State Police
Barracks in Dartmouth”, to the Dartmouth Housing Authority to provide affordable housing for veterans. The parcel described in Book 01062 Page 0496 of the Southern District of the Bristol County Registry of Deeds. This parcel of land was purchased by the
Commonwealth on September 24, 1952.
SECTION 2.
The Dartmouth Housing Authority shall pay full and fair market value for the parcel as determined by an independent appraiser, and reviewed by the inspector general of the commonwealth. The Dartmouth housing
Authority shall be responsible for all costs and expenses of the transaction authorized by this act as determined by the commissioner of capital asset management and maintenance, including but not limited to costs of any survey, appraisal, and other expens
es relating to the conveyance of the parcel, and shall be responsible for all costs, liabilities and expenses of any nature and kind for its leasehold.
SECTION 3.
If for any reason the property described in section 1 ceases to be used solely for the purp
oses described in section 1, the property shall revert to the commonwealth.
SECTION 4.
This act shall take effect upon its passage.
