An Act exempting the position of Chief of Police of the Town of West Springfield from the provisions of the Civil Service Law
By Mr. Finn of West Springfield, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 4496) of Michael J. Finn (with the approval of the mayor and town council) for legislation to exempt the position of chief of police of the city known as the town of West Springfield from certain provisions of the civil service law. Public Service. [Local Approval Received.]
SECTION 1. Chapter 468 of the Acts and resolves of 1911, as amended and as accepted by the Town of West Springfield via vote of Town Meeting dated February 19, 1919 is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. The position of Chief of Police in the Town of West Springfield shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter Thirty-One (31) of the Massachusetts General Laws.
SECTION 3. The Provisions of Section 1and section 2 of this Act shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding the position of Police Chief on the effective date of this act.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
