An Act relative to the retirement of Penelope Harvey
By Mr. Dempsey of Haverhill, for the committee on Ways and Means, that the Bill relative to the retirement of Penny Harvey (House, No. 3730) ought to pass with an amendment substituting a bill with the same title (House, No. 3828). December 5, 2011.
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary, the Fairhaven school committee and the superintendent of schools for the town of Fairhaven may place Penelope Harvey on unpaid leave of absence from September 15, 2010, through September 30, 2010.
SECTION 2. Upon the approval of the Fairhaven superintendent and school committee of such unpaid leave of absence, the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement Board shall recalculate Penelope Harvey's retirement benefit to include the period of the full time leave of absence as full time creditable service. The recalculation of Penelope Harvey's benefit shall be retroactive to her effective date of retirement.
