Bill S.2436 187th (2011 - 2012)

RESOLVED, that a special commission is hereby established to identify, preserve and commemorate historic roadways in the commonwealth. The commission shall consist of 2 members of the senate, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; 2 members of the house of representatives, 1 of whom shall be appointed by the minority leader; the administrator of the highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation or a designee, who shall serve as chair; a representative of the Massachusetts historical commission; the commissioner of conservation and recreation or a designee; 1 representative of the Massachusetts Municipal Association; 1 representative of the Massachusetts chapter of the American Planning Association; and 1 representative to be appointed by the governor who shall be an expert in the history of the commonwealth.

The commission shall identify historic roadways in the commonwealth and cost-effective means for preserving and commemorating those roadways. The commission shall report the results of its investigation and its recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry those recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerks of the senate and house of representative not later than December 31, 2012.”
