The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
An Act relative to needlestick injury prevention in public health facilities and settings.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 53D of chapter 111 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2006 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “Any”, in line 1, the following words:- state, county or municipal public health facility, including, but not limited to, the departments of mental retardation, mental health and public health or any.
SECTION 2. Said section 53D of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “all”, in line 8, the following words:- state, county and municipal public health facilities, including, but not limited to, the departments of mental retardation, mental health and public health and all.
SECTION 3. Said section 53D of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “hospital”, in line 13, the following words:- or public health facility.
SECTION 4. Said section 53D of said chapter 111, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the word “hospitals”, in line 29, the following words:- or public health facilities.
SECTION 5. The department of public health shall promulgate rules and regulations on or before January 4th 2010 to effectuate the purposes of this act.
