The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
An Act to streamline health care services by allowing nurse practitioners to verify medical papers and records.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 official edition,
is hereby amended by adding after Section 80H, the following new Section:-
Section 80I. Global signature authority of a nurse practitioner.
When a provision of law or rule requires a signature, certification, stamp, verification, affidavit or endorsement by a physician, that requirement may be fulfilled by a nurse practitioner practicing under section 80B of chapter 112. This section may not be construed to expand the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner.
