An Act authorizing the town of Milton to borrow money for the payment of certain medical expenses. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. (a) The town of Milton may borrow up to the following amounts of money for payment of legally-obligated medical expenses incurred from July, 2013 through June, 2018, inclusive, by certain public safety personnel resulting from injuries sustained in the line of duty: (1) up to $850,000 for such expenses incurred from July, 2013 through June, 2014, inclusive; (2) up to $850,000 for such expenses incurred from July, 2014 through June, 2015, inclusive; (3) up to $850,000 for such expenses incurred from July, 2015 through June, 2016, inclusive; (4) up to $850,000 for such expenses incurred from July, 2016 through June, 2017, inclusive; and (5) up to $850,000 for such expenses incurred from July, 2017 through June, 2018, inclusive. (b) The town may issue bonds and notes for the amounts in subsection (a), which shall be payable for a period not to exceed 20 years from the date of issuance. The town may also issue temporary notes in anticipation of this borrowing under section 17 of chapter 44 of the General Laws. Bonds and notes may be issued under this act by the town treasurer with the approval of the board of selectmen, and the proceeds may be expended without further authorization or appropriation by the town.
(c) Indebtedness incurred under this act shall not be included in determining the limit of indebtedness of the town under section 10 of said chapter 44 but, except as provided in this act, shall otherwise be subject to said chapter 44. SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage. |
