An Act relative to do not resuscitate registration. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby further amended after Section 8D by adding the following new section:- Section 8D½. The registrar of motor vehicles, in cooperation with the executive office of health and human services, shall develop and implement a program allowing persons to register do-not-resuscitate orders as part of the application for a license to operate a motor vehicle and an identification card. After a person has completed registration, the program shall include notations on identification cards, motor vehicle licenses and registration notices to indicate the existence of documentation relative to a do-not-resuscitate order. A registration card distributed by the registrar shall include information and documentation relative to the do-not-resuscitate order as determined by said department. The registrar shall make available a suitable decal to be affixed to the motor vehicle license or identification card of a person who has indicated intent to register do-not-resuscitate orders under the provisions of said section. The registrar shall develop a means by which a person licensed by the registrar to operate a motor vehicle or holding an identification card issued under section 8E to register do-not-resuscitate orders through the registry’s website. The means shall be in addition to and shall contain the same security provisions as provided for the online renewal of licenses and registrations. The registrar, in cooperation with the executive office of health and human services, shall promulgate rules and regulations to implement the provisions of this section. |
