By Ms. Benson of Lunenburg, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3542) of Cory Atkins and others for legislation to provide that cytologic screenings performed at the same time as annual physical examinations be separately billed by health care providers and paid by insurers.  Financial Services.

An Act relative to promoting women's health.
 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

              SECTION 1.  Section 47G of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:--  Annual cytologic screenings performed at the same time as an annual physical exam may be separately billed by the health care provider and shall be paid by the insurer.

              SECTION 2.  Subdivision L of section 110 of said chapter 175, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:--  Annual cytologic screenings performed at the same time as an annual physical exam may be separately billed by the health care provider and shall be paid by the insurer.

              SECTION 3.  Section 8J of chapter 176A, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:--  Annual cytologic screenings performed at the same time as an annual physical exam may be separately billed by the health care provider and shall be paid by the insurer.
