An Act relative to the representation of governmental entities. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: Section 1. Chapter 221, section 46 of the General Laws, appearing in the 2010 Official Edition, is hereby amended by: a. Inserting in line 1 after “corporation,” public, private or non-profit”; b. Inserting in line 3 after “body” “or before the division of administrative law appeals or any other adjudicatory body, agency, court or like tribunal” c. Inserting in line 11 after “affairs” “or in adjudicatory proceedings before the division of administrative law appeals or any other adjudicatory body, agency, court or like tribunal” d. Adding at the end of paragraph 1 “As used in this section, the word “corporation” shall include, but shall not be limited to, those bodies corporate under section 1 of chapter 40 and any other public body politic and corporate. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any municipality, public agency or body or public body politic and corporate, acting through its appointing authority and with consultation of its legal counsel, may designate and authorize a non-attorney to appear on its behalf before the division of administrative law appeals or any other adjudicatory body, agency, court or like tribunal. “ |
