Canavan and others relative to requiring photo identification for credit card purchases, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 259) of Viriato Manuel deMacedo, Bradley H. Jones, Jr. and others relative to consumer identity verification prior to the iss uance of credit cards, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 261) of Louis L. Kafka relative to unsolicited credit cards, checks, and vouchers by mail, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 267) of John D. Keenan, Mary E. Grant and others relative to rebate reform and consumer protection in social referral service contracts, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 284) of Matthew C. Patrick for legislation to further regulate the rate of interest charges on delinquent credit card accounts, petition ( accompanied by bill House, No. 314) of William M. Straus relative to credit backed or bank issued gift cards, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 323) of Steven M. Walsh, Richard J. Ross and others memorializing the Congress of  the United States to a ddress the anticompetitive nature of credit and debit card interchange fees charged to merchants and consumers, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 3863) of Paul K. Frost for legislation to regulate the fees imposed on consumers by issuers of credit c ards, petition (accompanied by bill House, No. 3865) of John D. Keenan and Kathi-Anne Reinstein that sellers of gift certificates be required to maintain separate bank escrow accounts to ensure reimbursement to holders of such certificates, and petition (a ccompanied by bill House, No. 3870) of Pam Richardson further regulating the sale of gift certificates , reports, recommending that the accompanying order (House, No. 50 89 ) ought to be adopted.

An Order relative to authorizing the committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure to make an investigation and study of certain House documents.


 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Ordered , That the Joint Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure be authorized to sit during a re cess of the General Court to make an investigation and study of House documents numbered 238, 239, 244, 259, 261, 267, 284, 314, 323, 3863, 3865 and 38 70

              Said committee shall report to the General Court the results of its investigation and study and it s recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry such recommendations into effect, by filing the same with the Clerk of the House of Representatives on or before December 31, 2010.
