By Mr. Scibak of South Hadley, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 117) of John W. Scibak and Sean Garballey that telemarketers be required to use legitimate phone numbers so that consumers can directly communicate with solicitors.  Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.

An Act relative to telemarketing solicitation.
 

              Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

              SECTION 1: Section 4 of Chapter 159C of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2008 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following words:-

              “The telephone number listed in the identification service or device shall be a legitimate number in which the consumer can directly communicate with the solicitor.”
