  Section 34. If, in consequence of insolvency or bankruptcy, absence or other cause, a person liable for such debt fails to pay his just proportion thereof to the creditor, he shall be liable to indemnify all who, by reason of such failure on his part, pay more than their just proportion of the same. Such indemnity may be recovered by all of them jointly, or in separate actions by one or more of them for his or their parts respectively.
