Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 276 of the General Laws is amended by inserting after section 87 the following section:-
Section 87A. The conditions of probation imposed by a court upon a person pursuant to section eighty-seven of this chapter, section fifty-eight of chapter one hundred and nineteen or section one or section one A of chapter two hundred and seventy-nine, may include, but shall not be limited to, participation by said person in specified rehabilitative programs or performance by said person of specified community service work for a stated period of time.
SECTION 2. Section 1 of chapter 276A of the General Laws, as appearing in chapter 781 of the acts of 1974, is hereby amended by striking out the definition of "Program" and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-
"Program", any program of community supervision and services certified or approved by the commissioner of probation under the provisions of section eight, including, but not limited to, medical, educational, vocational, social and psychological services, corrective and preventive guidance, training, performance of community service work, counseling, provision for residence in a halfway house or other suitable place, and other rehabilitative services designed to protect the public and benefit the individual.
