Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Section 53A of chapter 44 of the General Laws, as most recently amended by section 1 of chapter 331 of the acts of 1983, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- After receipt of a written commitment from the federal government approving a grant for educational purposes and in anticipation of receipt of such funds from the federal government, the trea- surer, upon the request of the school committee, shall pay from the General Fund of such municipality to school committee employees compensation for services rendered in such federal grant programs, such compensation to be paid no later than ten days after the rendition of such services; provided, however, that the provisions of such federal grant would allow the treasurer to reimburse the General Fund for the amounts so advanced.
