CHAPTER 116 AN ACT FURTHER REGULATING MEETINGS OF GOVERNMENTAL BODIES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The seventh paragraph of section 11A 1/2 of chapter 30A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1986 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- No votes taken in open session shall be by secret ballot.

SECTION 2. The seventh paragraph of section 9G of chapter 34 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- No votes taken in open session shall be by secret ballot.

SECTION 3. Section 23A of chapter 39 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the definition of "Governmental body" and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-

"Governmental body", every board, commission, committee or subcommittee of any district, city, region or town, however elected, appointed or otherwise constituted, and the governing board of a local housing, redevelopment or similar authority; provided, however, that this definition shall not include a town meeting.

SECTION 4. The seventh paragraph of section 23B of said chapter 39, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by adding the following sentence:- No votes taken in open session shall be by secret ballot.
