Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, Ervin G. Lothrop, chief of the police department of the town of West Bridgewater, is hereby authorized to continue in such position until and including August thirty-first, nineteen hundred and eighty-nine; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office or position; and, provided further, that he shall annually, at his own expense be examined by an impartial physician designated by the retirement board of the county of Plymouth to determine such capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of said employee under the provisions of chapter thirty-two of the General Laws for service subsequent to August thirty-first, nineteen hundred and eighty-eight, and upon retirement said employee shall receive a superannuation allowance equal to that to which he would have been entitled to had he retired on said date.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on August thirty-first, nineteen hundred and eighty-eight.
