Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2-1 of the charter of the town of Dedham, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth as provided by section twelve of chapter forty-three B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 2 and 3, the words "two hundred and seventy members" and inserting in place thereof the following words:- not less than two hundred and seventy members and not more than the closest higher number of members necessary to achieve an equal number of members from each district.

SECTION 2. The first paragraph of section 2-3 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out, in line 2, the word "nine" and inserting in place thereof the following words:- not less than six nor more than nine.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
