Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea is hereby authorized to indemnify Wilber Stanley, a firefighter of said town retired for accidental disability, for his past, present, and future reasonable medical and hospital expenses incurred as the natural and proximate result of his injury in the line of duty, which are not reimbursed by medicare or other insurance, out of any funds appropriated for this purpose or any available funds appropriated for insurance purposes.
SECTION 1A. The provisions of section one hundred B of chapter forty-one of the General Laws, authorizing the town to indemnify any police officer or firefighter for such expenses and charges contained therein, shall apply to the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea upon acceptance at the annual town meeting or special town meeting.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
