CHAPTER 363 AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE PROCEEDS OF CERTAIN BONDS IN THE TOWN OF BREWSTER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section seven D of chapter seventy-nine and chapter two hundred A of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the town treasurer of the town of Brewster may retain such funds as have been deposited or invested on behalf of any person or persons entitled to damages awarded under section six of said chapter seventy-nine, but where the name or names of such person or persons could not be determined after reasonable investigation, and shall not be required to transfer said funds to the treasurer of the commonwealth. The board of selectmen in the town of Brewster may, by majority vote of the board, authorize the town treasurer of the town of Brewster to expend said funds, in whole or in part, for the purpose of compensating a person or persons for damages awarded under said section six of said chapter seventy-nine. For the purposes of this act, the term "funds" shall be deemed to include only those funds deposited or invested pursuant to said section seven D of said chapter seventy-nine which were first deposited or invested prior to January first, nineteen hundred and ninety-two. Any said funds which have not been expended pursuant to the provisions of this act prior to January first, nineteen hundred and ninety-seven shall be transferred to the treasurer of the commonwealth pursuant to the provisions of said chapter two hundred A.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
