CHAPTER 389 AN ACT EXEMPTING THE POSITIONS OF SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES, CHIEF DEPUTY SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES AND DEPUTY SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES IN THE CITY OF NEWTON FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The positions of sealer of weights and measures, chief deputy sealer of weights and measures and deputy sealer of weights and measures in the city of Newton shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. The provisions of section one shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding a position as sealer of weights and measures, chief deputy sealer of weights and measures, or deputy sealer of weights and measures in the city of Newton on the effective date of this act.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
