Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Chapter 147 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 49, as appearing in the 1990 Official Edition, and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 49. Sections thirty-two to forty-seven, inclusive, shall take effect in a city if accepted by a majority vote of the city council, with the approval of the mayor where such approval is required by the charter of the city and in a town if accepted by a majority vote of the board of selectmen.
