Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, Stephen J. Ridge of the city of Boston, for the purposes of the civil service eligibility list for the position of police officer in said city of Boston, shall be considered a son of a police officer as set forth in section twenty-six of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws provided that he passes the required written and physical examinations for entrance to police service.
