CHAPTER 121 AN ACT AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE STATE BOARD OF RETIREMENT TO GRANT CREDITABLE SERVICE TO EDWARD F. RYAN, JR.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to immediately authorize and direct the state board of retirement to grant creditable service to Edward F. Ryan, Jr., therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special law to the contrary, the state retirement board is hereby authorized and directed to grant Edward F. Ryan, Jr., a former employee of the department of mental retardation, one hundred and sixty days of additional creditable service and to adjust his superannuation retirement benefits accordingly, such adjustment to be effective on the date of his retirement.

Approved June 18, 1996.
