CHAPTER 447 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF TREE WARDEN IN THE TOWN OF WINTHROP.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the office of tree warden in the town of Winthrop shall be appointed by the board of selectmen for a term not to exceed three years. The tree warden shall be assigned to the department of public works. A vacancy in said office shall be filled in a like manner for the unexpired portion of the term. Said office shall not be subject to the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws. The compensation of said office shall be established within the classification and pay plan of the town by-laws, as recommended by the personnel board and set by the board of selectmen.

SECTION 2. The incumbent in the office of tree warden on the effective date of this act shall continue to hold said office and to perform the duties thereof until the expiration of the term and the appointment of a tree warden or a preceding vacating of office.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
