CHAPTER 482 AN ACT EXTENDING THE TIME FOR GROUP MARKETING PLANS FOR AUTOMOBILE AND HOMEOWNER INSURANCES TO SECURE THIRTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE GROUP.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to immediately extend the time for group marketing plans for automobile and homeowners insurance policies, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

The fourth paragraph of section 193R of chapter 175 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1994 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out clause (7) and inserting in place thereof the following clause:- (7) that such employer, trade union association or organization shall consist of no less than twenty-five members, at least fifteen of whom are residents of the commonwealth and that at least thirty-five percent are insured within two years of the effective date of the plan, such percentage to continue so insured at all times thereafter.

Approved January 9, 1997.
