Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is relative to the retirement program of the Massachusetts Port Authority, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Chapter 133 of the acts of 1992 is hereby amended by striking out section 49 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 49. The board of directors established by chapter four hundred and sixty-five of the acts of nineteen hundred and fifty-six is hereby authorized to design and implement an early retirement program for its employees; provided, however, that retirement under said program must occur between the period of September first, nineteen hundred and ninety-two through August thirty-first, nineteen hundred and ninety-three or January first, nineteen hundred and ninety-six through December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and ninety-six.
