Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding the provisions of section 39M of
chapter 30 and section 29 of chapter 149 of the General
Laws, the board of
selectmen of the town of Great Barrington is hereby authorized to contract for
the restoration, repair or replacement of grave stones, fencing and other
monuments in the Mahaiwe cemetery, including the preservation of those of
historic significance, damaged by the tornado of 1995, on such terms and
conditions as it shall deem appropriate.
SECTION 2.
The availability of funds for the purposes
described in section 1 provided pursuant to item 8800-0051 of section 2 of
chapter 120 of the acts of 1995, and
extended by section 2C of chapter 204 of the acts of 1996, is hereby further
extended to July 31, 1998.
SECTION 3.
This act shall take effect upon its passage.
