Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule
or regulation to the contrary, Thomas J. Foley of the city of Boston, son of
Edward P. Foley, a deceased police officer of the city of Boston, shall be
considered a son of a police officer who was killed or sustained injuries
resulting in his death while in the performance of his duties and as a result
of an assault on his person set forth in section 26 of chapter 31 of the
General Laws, for the purposes of civil service eligibility for a position of
police officer in the city of Boston.
SECTION 2.
This act shall take effect as of February 1, 2002.
