Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
as follows:
SECTION 1.
Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or
regulation to the contrary, the town of Acton may lease the historic towne
school
building and so
much land surrounding and providing access to the building as is set forth in
the
votes of the school committee and the board of selectmen, for a term of not
more
than 50 years, for the purpose of preserving the building and adapting it for
residential use, including but not limited to low and moderate income housing
use.
SECTION 2.
The
board of selectmen may issue a request for proposals for such
purposes, to determine the terms and conditions of such request, to accept any
proposal or negotiate changes in any proposal, or to reject all proposals, as
it determines to be in the best interests of the town, and to take all other
actions as may be necessary or desirable to carry out such project.
SECTION 3.
This act shall take effect upon its passage.
