Born and raised in Lowell Massachusetts, Representative Murphy was first elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1996. Representative Murphy is the former chairman of the committee on Higher Education. Currently, he sits on the Ways and Means committee, the committee on the Judiciary and the committee on Financial Services. He is an advocate for quality education, affordable health care and economic development.
